The Town of Ballston, in association with the New York State Broadband Program Office, Cornell University Cooperative Extension, Hudson Valley Wireless and Town of Ballston Library have developed a program to provide a new benefit to our area seniors. The goal of the program is to help enrich the lives of our area seniors by becoming more "digitally literate." This will be accomplished by helping them access a vast array of resources available on the Internet.
This program will begin to help seniors break down the barriers to digital literacy. What are these barriers? Perhaps some senior's think they are too old to learn. Perhaps they think that they will become victims if they access the Internet. Perhaps they cannot get access to the Internet or can't afford an iPAD or PC. The world is changing and we need to help our seniors discover how they can benefit from the digital world around them.
As a first step, we would like to ask each of you to participate in a brief survey so that we can begin understand how best to help. We will then work to provide digital access, digital education, digital help/support and perhaps even digital devices.
We look forward to connecting with you soon!
